LG Hausys in Process of Constructing Auto Skin Plant in North America
2014.08.13LG Hausys announced its plan for establishing an auto skin production plant in Gordon County, Georgia to strengthen its presence in North America’s auto manufacturing market. Auto skin is a material for vehicle interior surface finishing used for car seats, door panels, and dashboard. Once it is completed in the end of 2015, the 9,000-square-meter plant will go into full operation from 2016 to annually produce and supply 6 million square meters of auto skin to automobile manufacturers based in North America, including Hyndai/Kia, GM, and Chrysler. Currently ranked third in global market share for auto skin, LG Hausys is leading the market with top-notch offerings, including eco-friendly auto skin created through the world’s first application of biomaterials. Once its Georgia plant is completed, LG Hausys will have established production base both in China and North America (combined, take up more than 40% of global market share), which will help the company increase its share in the global markets.
