Windsor, ON - 21 October 2026 ― NextStar Energy today announced a major manufacturing milestone, reaching 10 million battery cells produced at its Windsor facility. This achievement marks a significant step in the company’s continued production growth and its advancement of Canada’s domestic battery industry.

As demand for energy storage solutions continues to accelerate across North America, NextStar Energy is playing a pivotal role in establishing a strong, resilient Canadian battery industry. As Canada’s first and only commercial scale battery facility, NextStar Energy is building the foundation of a domestic battery supply chain, strengthening the region’s advanced manufacturing landscape and positioning the country as a key competitor in the global energy industry.

“Canada has an opportunity to be a leader in the rapidly growing energy storage sector, and NextStar Energy is leading the charge,” said Danies Lee, CEO of NextStar Energy. “Producing 10 million battery cells demonstrates that we have the people, the capability, and the vision to compete on a global scale. We are incredibly proud to create new advanced manufacturing opportunities for Canadian workers and to contribute to the long-term economic growth of our region.”

Commercial battery cell production began at NextStar Energy less than a year ago, with the facility achieving considerable growth and quality milestones in a short time period. Each battery cell is manufactured through highly specialized processes, advanced automation, and multistage quality verification to ensure international standards for performance and reliability are met.

NextStar Energy’s production growth is supported by its workforce of approximately 1,300 employees. The company is continuing to scale production with a long-term target of 2,500 jobs at full capacity.
