■ Dr. Kim SunKeun from LG Chem to present high-functional synthetic rubber products and innovative technologies
SEOUL, Feb. 28, 2025 – LG Chem announced today that it will participate in the Tire Technology Expo 2025, held in Hannover, Germany, from March 4 to 6. This marks the company’s third consecutive year at the event, where it will showcase innovative solutions and sustainability strategies aimed at advancing the tire industry while meeting environmental demands.
The Tire Technology Expo is recognized as Europe’s foremost tire manufacturing technology exhibition and conference. With 240 exhibitors from 70 countries, the expo is a vital hub for the global tire industry, bringing together scientists, engineers, academics and professionals to exchange insights and explore the latest advancements in manufacturing and design.
Dr. Kim SunKeun from LG Chem will present at a conference session on March 5, under the theme “Developments and Innovations in Materials and Related Processes.” He will share his insights into LG Chem’s functionalized solution-styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) and Neodymium butadiene rubber (Nd-BR) for high-performance tires.
At its exhibition booth (Hall 20, Booth C516), LG Chem will underscore its commitment to sustainable innovation and highlight its achievements under its NET ZERO 2050 strategy — the company’s comprehensive sustainability goal to reach carbon-neutral growth by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
LG Chem will highlight key milestones in its S-SBR and BR developments since launching the LETZero brand in 2021. LETZero certifies products that have demonstrated eco-friendliness by passing rigorous screenings. Through its video presentation, LG Chem will also mention its plans to operate a pyrolysis plant by 2025 and a hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO) plant by 2027 in line with its goal to produce 100% sustainable synthetic rubber by 2030 based on its bio-circular balanced and circular-balanced technologies.
“We are committed to contributing to the sustainable transformation of the tire industry by offering innovative solutions,” said an LG Chem official. “We will continue to build up our presence in the rubber materials business with our advanced technology and strategic vision.”
LG Chem is enhancing its presence and visibility in the European market through LG Chem Europe GmbH (LGCEG), a subsidiary based in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2023, the company has also inaugurated its first European Customer Solutions Center (EU CS Center) to promptly respond to the needs of its European partners for technical support and provide comprehensive technology solutions, such as product development, quality improvement, and productivity enhancements.
