That's what sets us apart, and that's what the LG Awards are all about – celebrating innovations that truly make a difference."
LG hosted the ‘2024 LG Awards’ on April 2nd at the LG Academy (LG’s Corporate University) in Icheon City to celebrate achievements in customer value across products, technology, and services over the past year.
More than 500 people attended the event in person, including CEO Kwang Mo Koo, winners, and customers who served as event judges, as well as more than 1,000 employees who participated in the live-stream broadcast of the event.
Since taking office, CEO Koo has championed customer value as a core management theme, leading to the establishment of the LG Awards in 2019. Now in its sixth year, the LG Awards has become the flagship event for recognizing and rewarding group companies that prioritize the creation of differentiated customer value, with 405 teams and over 3,300 winners to date.
*Number of winners by year: 2019 (321), 2020 (480), 2021 (448), 2022 (593), 2023 (769), 2024 (724).
In his congratulatory address to the winners, CEO Koo said: "The LG Awards recognize how our customers value the differentiated innovations that we have introduced. I hope that all of the innovations that took home awards continue to evolve and reach more customers so that more people can enjoy the same great experiences."

■ The new Employee Judging System to evaluate innovation from the customer's perspective
LG introduced an Employee Judging System for the first time this year, with more than 10,000 employees participating as judges during a four-day review process from February 19 to 22. They selected the LG Awards winners from the customer's point of view, demonstrating a strong interest in contributing to customer-centric initiatives and the LG Awards.
Building on last year's introduction of the customer judging system, LG expanded the panel to include a diverse range of voices, encompassing professionals, homemakers, non-Koreans, office workers, and people from various age groups and professions. This inclusive approach aimed to capture a wider range of customer opinions and experiences beyond the MZ demographic that made up the committee last year.
Notably, three customer representatives who participated in the judging process attended the awards ceremony at the LG Academy (LG’s Corporate University) to congratulate the winners and personally present the top prize, the ‘Customer Impression Grand Award’.
■ Customer experience innovations across various customer touch points won awards
The ‘2024 LG Awards’ celebrated 98 teams and 724 winners, including recipients of top prizes such as the ‘Customer Impression Grand Award’ (4 teams), ‘Customer Satisfaction Award ’(46 teams), and ‘Customer Empathy Award’ (48 teams).
The company selected the winners by thoroughly examining the products or services from the customer's perspective, considering their unique value propositions and impact. A standout example is the LG SIGNATURE OLED M development team, which was honored with the ‘Customer Impression Grand Award’. Recognizing the inconvenience of tangled wires associated with traditional TVs, the team revolutionized home entertainment with a wireless OLED TV that eliminates all wires except for power.
The team focused on the difficulties that consumers face when connecting various external devices such as consoles and set-top boxes to their TVs, recognizing that cluttered wires around the TV looks messy and that making the connections is often inconvenient.
Rather than just accepting the status quo, the team innovated relentlessly and introduced a TV in a revolutionary form factor called the wireless TV, which allows customers to place the TV anywhere in the home without the need for complicated connections. The LG SIGNATURE OLED M development team received the highest percentage of votes in the organization category, with 4,100 votes from more than 10,000 members.
In addition, LG Chem’s team which developed a new eco-friendly recycled film material, and the LG Electronics' team which designed the LG PuriCare HydroTower, a three-stage hygienic humidifier, both won a ‘Customer Impression Grand Award’ in the group category. In the individual category, LG Chem's Life Sciences Company Choi Seong-Deok won the ‘Customer Impression Grand Award’ for proactively responding to supply chain disruption of essential fertility drugs, ensuring that customers could receive scheduled treatments in a timely manner.
■ The LG Awards become a festive affair with employees as stars of the show
This year’s award ceremony was planned to be a festive event where each employee took center stage. During the pre-show, LG’s ‘Smart Home AI Agent’ kicked off the festivities with a lively dance, welcoming winners and engaging with the host while presenting the awards program schedule. First introduced by LG Electronics at this year's CES, the ‘Smart Home AI Agent’ acts as a versatile household assistant.
Attendees also had the opportunity to interact firsthand with cutting-edge LG products, including the ‘Alpha-able’ future mobility concept car unveiled at CES earlier this year, and the ‘Comfort Kit’, designed to facilitate appliance usage for everyone regardless of gender, age, or disability. Both products won the ‘Customer Satisfaction Award’ at this year's LG Awards.
Before the main event, the 500 attendees participated in a variety of engaging activities, ranging from lively a cappella performances and a Stamp Mission Tour, to experiences like ‘IMPRINTU’ sessions with LG Household & Health Care's mini tattoo printer. The event was further enriched by a photo zone and personalized caricatures, ensuring a memorable and entertaining experience for all participants.
