LG Chairman Kwang Mo Koo Inspires Future Innovators at LG Tech Conference
2019.02.14On February 13th, LG hosted the LG Tech Conference at LG Sciencepark in Seoul, bringing together over 350 R&D talents from Korea's top master's and doctoral programs in science and engineering.
Established in 2012, the LG Tech Conference serves as a platform for top executives and employees to articulate LG's current technological landscape and future vision, aiming to attract exceptional R&D talent. This year, the conference relocated from a hotel in downtown Seoul, offering attendees a firsthand look at LG Sciencepark’s cutting-edge research facilities.
Many researchers were in attendance, with specializations including artificial intelligence, OLEDs, new materials, automotive parts, batteries, biotechnologies, and other fields pivotal to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Mr. Koo’s presence underscored the company's commitment to securing top-tier R&D talent and he emphasized the pivotal role of technology in realizing LG's vision of becoming the most esteemed company by customers and society.
"After being appointed as CEO last year, the first place I visited was LG Sciencepark. Since then, I've frequently visited other R&D sites as well" stated Mr. Koo during the conference dinner. "We firmly believe that technology is the cornerstone to achieve LG's dream of becoming the most loved company by consumers, and we are dedicated to nurturing exceptional R&D talent and cultivating an environment conducive to groundbreaking research."
Mr. Koo also expressed LG’s support for the employees to lead the future of technology and fulfil their dreams, urging attendees to infuse their dreams and passions into LG's endeavors to help make a tangible impact on the lives of customers. Engaging with graduate students individually, Mr. Koo demonstrated a concerted effort to connect with potential future talents, engaging in conversations and photo opportunities at each table.
Throughout the conference, Ahn Seung-kwon, CEO of LG Sciencepark, positioned the facility as the nucleus of LG Group's R&D efforts, while I.P. Park, CTO of LG Electronics, delivered a keynote speech highlighting LG's core R&D pursuits under the theme of 'Better Life, New Challenges for LG.'
Executives and senior researchers from LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Hausys, LG Uplus, LG CNS, and other LG affiliates provided guided tours of their respective research sites, offering insights into ongoing technology developments and strategies for fostering R&D talent.
The event concluded with a dinner that fostered a more casual atmosphere conducive to networking and collaboration. The dinner was attended by CEOs and CTOs, including Kwang Mo Koo(Chairman and CEO of LG Corp), Kwon Young-soo(Vice Chairman of LG Corp), Han Sang-beom(Vice Chairman of LG Display) Jo Seong-jin(Vice Chairman of LG Electronics), Ha Hyun-hwoi(Vice Chairman of LG Uplus), Shin Hak-cheol(Vice Chairman of LG Chem), Kim Young-seob (President of LG CNS), Jeong Cheol-dong(President of LG Innotek), and Min Kyung-jip(President of LG Hausys).
