■ Blood donation until April at 12 business places... Supporting medical sites with high blood shortages
 
■ Labor and management actively participating in local social contribution such as environmental protection and eco-friendly energy supply
 
 
Labor and management at LG Chem·LG Energy Solution are practicing ESG (environment, society, governance) management through blood donation drives.
 
LG Chem announced on the 7th that it will hold a labor-management joint relay blood donation campaign joined by the employees at its 12 business places in Korea.
 
This campaign started at the Yeosu Complex in Jeollanam-do and then be carried out at the Daesan Complex in Chungcheongnam-do, R&D campus Magok in Seoul, the Yeouido headquarters, etc. and then be finished at Ochang and Cheongju factories at the end of this month. The relay blood donation is scheduled to be conducted again in the second half of the year.
 
After thinking about ways to practice ESG management, the labor and management at LG Chem·LG Energy Solution decided to team up to help with the blood supply for medical sites, which is one of the areas that need the most assistance.
 
In reality, the current blood supply of the Korean Red Cross is at just 3.9 days, which is much below the appropriate level of 5 days.
 
The number of blood donors has been dropping continuously due to COVID-19, and therefore, the relay blood donation of the two companies is expected to help significantly in stabilizing the blood supply.
 
The Korean Red Cross said that if just a thousand people from the two LG companies participate, it can procure about 20% of the daily blood supply, and thanked members of LG Chem for helping to overcome the current state of crisis.
 
*Daily average number of blood donors for procuring the appropriate blood supply (for 5 days) is 5,000 to 5,600 people
 
A member of LG Chem said, “Executives and employees of both companies teamed up to make our society a safer and better place to live,” while adding, “We will continue to find places needing assistance to help out where we can.”
 
Meanwhile, in addition to the relay blood donation, the labor and management of LG Chem·LG Energy Solution is pursuing support for the environment, community, and alienated classes through activities such as ▲’Sharing 10,000 Won,’ which is a voluntary donation activity for helping the local community ▲’Green Energy Distribution’ that installs solar power generation equipment in villages near major business places, and ▲’Clean up,’ a local community environmental protection activity.
