LG Display donates funds raised from OLED charity event for the NSPCC
2019.09.12Seoul, Korea (Sept. 12, 2019) – LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that the company will donate funds raised in aid of Harrods’ charity partner, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
All of the funds were collected from LG Display’s OLED charity event that launched on July 29 and finished September 1, and the total amounted to £106,527.60. LG Display and Harrods set up a charity window at Door 5 of Harrods with a hand-shaped icon on it that people could touch to donate to the charity. People were also able to contribute to the charity on Instagram by downloading "OLED Ocular Guard" pictures from LG Display’s OLED Space (en.oledspace.com), the company-run online community to share information about OLED technology, and reposting them on their own Instagram account with the three hashtags of #OLEDCares, #OcularGuard, and #itsOLEDorOLED.
LG Display, the only manufacturer of large-size OLED panels in the world, has been partnering with Harrods from July 29 on as Harrods embraces OLED as an unmatched next-generation display technology that offers abundant form factors and impressive features such as authentic emissive color, “thinnovative” design, “everywhere view”, and an “ocular guard,” which means that it is easy on the eyes. Indeed, LG Display’s OLED panel is certified by TÜV Rheinland, a world-class testing and certification authority, as a display technology providing optimal brightness and less blue light, therefore relieving eye fatigue. In addition to its unsurpassed picture quality, OLED’s characteristics raise this technology to the next level and make it a great complement to premium TVs and futuristic applications.
All donated funds and products will go directly to the NSPCC’s vital services in the capital helping to support children in London and protect them from abuse and neglect. The money will help to fund their programs Childline, Speak Out, Stay Safe, school assemblies and the NSPCC service centers. In addition, leading TV brands including LG Electronics, Philips, Panasonic and Bang & Olufsen join forces to donate their cutting-edge OLED TVs to the NSPCC, which will be installed at the childcare center in London.
“I am pleased to partner with Harrods to contribute to this charity for the first time in the UK to take responsibility for people in need,” said KJ Kim, Vice President and Head of Global OLED Promotion at LG Display. He added, “LG Display will continue to work with Harrods, the world’s most high-end retailer, to further promote OLED technology that creates a better life for consumers by offering premium value.”
